Arts and Events in the Great Southern
Country Arts WA acknowledges the Aboriginal people of the Great Southern as the traditional custodians. We are thankful to be on this country and acknowledge the Elders past, present and emerging. We respect and celebrate the continuing contribution of Aboriginal Australians to culture and the arts.
Centred around the historic port of Albany, the Great Southern Region is popular for its mild weather and unique festivals. The roughly 54,000 residents also enjoy a huge diversity of landscapes, from pristine white beaches to tall timer forests to scrublands filled with native wildflowers.
Drawing in international talent, this uniquely intimate, annual festival is held every year on the WA Day long weekend to share stories through song, story, laughter and every other expression of voice.
A celebration of very part of Albany’s arts & culture, the Vancouver Street Festival is a whirlwind of history, heritage, dance, song, parade and public art just waiting to be explored by anyone with a whiff of curiosity in their hearts.
